“Petra, I can’t just leave. I won’t find such a great team again,” she said with a sigh.
She is 80% decided. She needs to find a job that will give her meaning again. The last time she felt this way in her current company was 13 years ago. The 20% still keeping her there is the excellent team that she loves.
I know. I was there myself when I was leaving Amazon. Those shared moments, successes and stresses, promotions and disappointments, countless lunches and coffees at Kollarko with colleagues and clients. Now 3 years after I left, I see that it is ok. We are still together, albeit differently. We are still in our lives, but in a different way.
If right now you are on the verge of making a decision – whether to leave, resign, start a business, take a break before burning out – I offer you the most common reasons (fears) that I see in my clients.
Maybe you can find yourself in them too?
- Fear of risk – “Is it worth it?”
- Fear of losing status – “What if I mean less?”
- Fear of failure – “What if I don’t make it?”
- Fear of losing safety – “What awaits me on the other side?”
- Fear of losing belonging to a team – “Will I be there alone?”
If you have an important career decision ahead of you, I’d be happy to discuss it with you.
